Board Members
Mike Boston joined the Navy upon graduation from high school, 1954.
Served four-years; honorable discharged as an E-5.
Attended community college for two-years; earned AA certificate.
Re-enlisted in the Navy as a Naval Aviation Cadet.
Received Wings-of-Gold and commissioned as an ensign 1963 (O-1).
First fleet-tour maritime aviation; designated as a patrol-plane commander as a LTJG (O-2). Promoted to LT (O-3).
First shore-tour as a basic-jet flight instructor; designated instructor-of-the-month.
Second fleet-tour in light-attack community (A7E Corsair II); single-deployment to Vietnam in VA-195, in USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), 150 combat-missions. Promoted to O-4 (LCDR)
Second shore-tour US Naval War College, Command & Staff Course; concurrently earned BA degree at San Jose State College.
Third fleet-tour in light-attack again in A7 Corsair II in VA-56 USS Midway (CV-41) overseas home-ported in Yokosuka, Japan.
Third shore-tour as instructor pilot in A7 Corsair II replacement squadron VA-122; promoted to O-5 (CDR) and screened for aviation squadron command.
Fourth fleet-tour as executive and commanding officer A4 Skyhawk adversary squadron VC-5 based in Subic Bay, Philippines.
Fourth shore-tour US Naval War College, Naval Warfare Course; concurrently earned MA equivalent degree.
Fifth fleet-tour as assistant and later Air Officer (Air Boss) USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67). Promoted to O-6 (CAPT).
Fifth shore-tour as Deputy Inspector General, Atlantic Fleet Command. Selected for aviation shore-command.
Assumed command of Naval Air Facility, El Centro CA, winter-training base of Blue Angels.
Selected as program officer for the new USN/USMC aviation training system T45TS (schools, simulators, and aircraft) under the direction of the Chief of Naval Air Training, Corpus Christi, TX.
Retired 1990 as CAPT with over 5000 flight hours (3000 jet) and over 500 carrier landings (100 night).
Contracted with Imperial County, CA in 1990 as Public Affairs Director.
Appointed in 1991 as County Veterans Services Officer, Imperial County, CA
Appointed in 1994 as Director of County Airports and Veterans Initiatives.
Resigned from Imperial County Government in 1997, to relocate to Lakeway, TX.
1998-2003 Chief Operations Officer of small business group in Austin, TX.
Assumed present part-time position in 2005 as Archivist and Heritage Center Coordinator of the City of Lakeway
